About

From Lived Experience to Systemic Strategy

My work is driven by a singular belief: potential is universal, but opportunity is systemic. This page tells the story of how I came to that belief and why I’m committed to expanding it.

The Journey

The Story Behind the Mission

My understanding of leadership and education wasn’t formed in boardrooms or lecture halls alone. It was shaped by navigating the very systems I now seek to improve.

Growing up, I witnessed how structural barriers influence opportunity. I saw talented peers whose potential was never fully realised because the systems around them weren’t designed to support them. I saw institutions that aspired to be inclusive while their structures unintentionally created exclusion. I saw leaders who genuinely wanted to make a difference but lacked the frameworks to understand how.

That experience ignited a lifelong commitment: to understand how institutions actually work, and more importantly, how they can work better.

There came a point where I realised that whether I enjoyed every part of education or not was almost irrelevant. If I wanted to create the future I believed was possible, learning became a necessity. What began as necessity gradually became curiosity, a relentless desire to understand why some people thrive within systems while others, with just as much potential, are left behind.

Rather than accept these systems as inevitable, I committed myself to understanding them. I pursued education, worked across schools, local authorities and community organisations, and listened to the people most affected by these systems, not just those making decisions about them. Over time, I began to recognise the same patterns appearing across different sectors. The barriers were often different in appearance but similar in nature, and the principles that created meaningful change were remarkably consistent.

This wasn’t simply academic curiosity. It was personal.

I came to understand that opportunity isn’t something people simply find, it’s something leaders, institutions and communities intentionally create.

Growing up in Birmingham, my experiences across education, football, entrepreneurship and leadership exposed me to perspectives that no single institution could teach. Each experience challenged my assumptions, broadened my understanding and reinforced one belief: meaningful opportunity is created when people intentionally build better systems.

Today, as a speaker, researcher and founder, I work at the intersection of theory and practice. I don’t just study social impact; I help organisations create it. I don’t just advise on systemic change; I’ve implemented it. I don’t just speak about inclusive leadership; I work alongside leaders to turn those ideas into action.

My lived experience gave me the question. My research gave me the answer. My practice continues to prove what’s possible.

A Multi-Disciplinary Perspective

The most complex challenges rarely fit neatly within one discipline. My work has been shaped by bringing together research, leadership, governance and practical implementation, allowing each area to continually strengthen the others.

Rather than separating theory from practice, I believe the most meaningful insights come from connecting them. Every role I undertake informs the next, creating an approach that is evidence-informed, grounded in experience and tested through real-world application.

01

Doctoral Researcher (EdD)

Rather than simply studying educational leadership, my research explores how institutional systems shape opportunity and how leaders can design environments where people are more likely to thrive.

This academic work provides the evidence that underpins my speaking, advisory work and organisational thinking, ensuring that every recommendation is grounded in research rather than assumption.

02

Founder & Strategic Advisor

Co-founding Bouncing Statistics and later establishing Reid Advisory has allowed me to move beyond theory and into implementation.

These organisations provide opportunities to test ideas, refine frameworks and support leaders facing genuine organisational challenges. Every programme delivered, every partnership developed and every outcome achieved strengthens the practical application of my work.

03

Governance & Leadership

Some of the most important leadership happens away from the spotlight. Governance has taught me that meaningful change depends on thoughtful challenge, collective responsibility and the courage to make decisions that serve the long term rather than the immediate.

It continues to shape how I advise leaders, helping them build organisations that are not only ambitious, but accountable and sustainable.

Individually, each perspective offers something different. Together, they provide a balanced way of understanding leadership, organisations and change. They continue to shape how I think, how I work and, ultimately, how I help others create greater opportunity.

THE PHILOSOPHY

Evidence. Empathy. Execution.

From intimate leadership roundtables to audiences of thousands, Rackeem delivers compelling, evidence-informed keynotes that challenge thinking, shift perspectives and inspire meaningful action.

Evidence

means understanding the root cause of a problem, not simply responding to its symptoms. I begin by asking what the evidence tells us, what patterns emerge and what research shows is most likely to create meaningful impact. Evidence provides the foundation for informed decision-making.

Empathy

means understanding the human experience behind the evidence. Data explains what is happening; empathy explains why it matters. It requires listening to the people most affected by a system and recognising that behind every statistic is a person whose opportunities have been shaped by it.

Execution

is where ideas become reality. Sustainable change depends on translating evidence and empathy into practical action. It means designing strategies that work within the realities organisations face, creating solutions that are achievable, sustainable and capable of delivering lasting impact.

Whether I’m advising leaders, delivering keynote presentations or supporting organisations through change, these principles underpin every aspect of my work.

Evidence without empathy becomes disconnected.
Empathy without evidence becomes well-intentioned but ineffective.
Execution without both rarely creates lasting change.

Together, they create meaningful and lasting impact.

Work

Why This Work Matters

This work has never been about systems for the sake of systems. It’s about the people whose lives are shaped by them.

Growing up, I saw first-hand how the right support, the right environment and the right leadership could completely change someone’s trajectory. I also saw what happened when those things were missing. Those experiences continue to shape how I think, how I lead and why I do this work.

Every organisation, school and leader has the ability to influence opportunity. The decisions they make shape cultures, change lives and leave a lasting impact on the people they serve. That’s a responsibility I never take lightly.

Whether through research, speaking or strategic advisory, my aim is simple: to help leaders build better systems that create greater opportunity for the people who depend on them.

Let's Work Together

Whether you’re looking for a keynote speaker, strategic advisory through Reid Advisory, or research-informed insight to strengthen your organisation, I’d welcome the opportunity to explore how we can work together.

Every meaningful partnership begins with a conversation. If you’re ready to strengthen leadership, build better systems and create greater opportunity, let’s start that conversation.
